Stainless Steel 904L is an austenitic stainless steel known for its superior corrosion resistance. This alloy was initially designed to withstand the corrosive effects of sulfuric acid, making it highly effective in environments where this acid is present. Unlike other stainless steel grades like 304 and 316, 904L remains unaffected by sulfuric acid within the temperature range of 35℃ to 40℃. This makes the 904L Stainless Steel Round Bar ideal for use in sulfuric acid processing units for both transportation and storage.
Additionally, the ASTM B649 type 904L Rod exhibits excellent resistance to both organic and inorganic acids, further broadening its applications.
However, it's important to note that acids containing halides can corrode SS 904L Square Bars, so in such cases, duplex stainless steel is preferred.
