These variations do not form the embrittling sigma phase even after prolonged exposure to temperatures up to 1200°F (649°C), making them ideal for equipment like heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and nitric acid catalyst supports. The bars are forged at temperatures ranging from 2200°F to 1600°F, and their enhanced creep and stress rupture properties make them suitable for use in power generation, heat-treatment furnaces, and hydrocarbon processing plants. The addition of nickel in the alloy provides excellent resistance to chloride ion stress-related corrosion cracking.
